What is Open World Learning?#

Entering introductory science education should feel as exhilarating as booting up a long-awaited open world RPG for the first time; as a student, you’re entering a vast and wondrous world filled with mysteries to unravel and riddles to solve!

The Open World Learning framework is a project where we explore and build collaborative online learning experiences within the Jupyter ecosystem, mainly focused on the physical sciences.

Key components in the framework

Key ingredients to this framework are non-linear and graph based learning paths, student-driven content generation, personalized and AI-driven assessment, and embedded code and simulations designed to engage the students in computational thinking.

The project is currently in its early stage of development with the support from Centre for Computing in Science Education and the The Hylleraas Centre for Quantum Molecular Sciences at the University of Oslo.
